Since I was a young girl, Alice in Wonderland has always been my favorite book. The whimsical characters in the story have always fascinated me, but in my twenties the story took a deeper meaning. Visually the fashion in the book really started to spark my creativity and inspired me to create inspired looks in my fashion illustrations. Emotionally, a character jumped out of the pages and spoke to me for the first time. The caterpillar asked Alice, “Who are you?” but I felt as he was speaking to me instead. Then, I sat there for a while wondering, “who am I?”
My conclusion: I’m not really sure.
Five years ago I couldn’t answer the caterpillar’s question.
Today, I don’t have to think twice to know who I am.
I’m an explorer. I’m an artist. I’m hungry for knowledge. I’m dedicated. I’m creative. I’m a lover. I’m funny (at least I think I am). I’m career-driven. I’m a doggie mommy. I’m a writer. But most importantly, I’m a confident woman.
Confident wasn’t even a word in my vocabulary, much less one that I would use to describe myself. Through the years I’ve learned that I have a lot to be proud about. By being persistent and determined, I have achieved things that I never would have imagined five years ago. I learned that if I put my mind to something, I could conquer the world. I’ve grown into a better version of myself and it’s something that I will continue to do for the rest of my life. Through this journey one of the most important things I’ve learned is that you must always take care of yourself and allow yourself sometime time veg out, to refresh and rejuvenate.
When “that time of the month” rolls around, I always schedule my “pamper and chill” date with myself. As a matter of fact, I head to CVS each month to keep my Pamper and Chill kit essentials ready for the next month. The second that Fifi (I know it’s weird, but I named my period!) shows signs of arriving, I break out all of the essentials that help me stay confident during “that” time of the month!
Pamper and Chill Kit Essentials
Chocolate- Chocolate is my vice, especially when I’m on my period. It helps to release some extra serotonin to keep a smile on my face.
Streaming Movie Subscription- Binge watching shows is my guilty pleasure, but I always feel guilty for indulging too much. This is the perfect time of the month to put my goals on hold to enjoy my favorite shows! By the way, are you hooked on Orange is the New Black like me? #Addicted!
U by Kotex® 3D Capture Core® With Xpress DRI pads– These pads are designed to quickly draw in and lock away wetness, that help my stay comfortable through the duration of my period. I keep then stocked in my period pouch and in my purse. PS- You can snag them for a great deal with this $2 off coupon from CVS!
Hydrating Face Mask- During a woman’s period, estrogen levels drop, which can leave skin wonky and dry. A hydrating mask will bring back some of the moisture that is lost, while also helping you to feel relaxed.
Moisturizing Foot Treatment- Pampering doesn’t end on my face, so I make sure to give my feet a little TLC too. Cocoa Butter is very nourishing to the skin and the thick cream from CVS is perfect for a little leg and foot massage too. I finish off my foot treatment by locking in the moisture with aloe infused socks, which are cute and comfy too. What more can a girl ask for?
How do you stay comfortable and confident while on your period with U by Kotex?
