Valentine’s Day is such a cute holiday and I love to decorate my house for the occasion. While on Sunday trip to Target, I had the idea to create a little door decoration for my home. For under $10 I created a door hanger that I can personalize year after year and I’m sharing the details with you today on how to make your own Valentine’s Day Chalkboard Decoration.
Valentine’s Day Chalkboard Decoration
Supplies Needed:
Wooden Heart
Chalkboard Heart
Red Paint
Pink Paint
Paint Brush
Valentine’s Day Stickers
7/16 Upholstery Nails (Not pictured)
Hammer (Not pictured)
Old newspaper or magazines (Not pictured)
Please note: With the exception of the nails, which I bought at Home Depot, all of the supplies for this project can be purchased from Target.
Steps:
- Protect your table surface by laying down a layer of newspaper or magazines. Then, paint the wooden heart using the pink and red paint. I chose to make alternating stripes, but you can paint the wooden heart however you please. Allow the paint to dry completely before moving to the next step.
- Place and nail in each hole of the chalkboard, then hammer the nail in to secure the board. The chalkboard I purchased from Target had 2 premade holes, so this way pretty easy, but if you don’t have holes, you will need to make your own.
- Optional: Place a Valentine’s Day sticker on the chalkboard to decorate the board.
There you have it, an easy to make Valentine’s Day chalkboard decoration. You can hang this on your front door or on a wall in your house. I hung mine in my kitchen, and change the saying each week to a new love quote.
What do you think of this craft? Do you decorate your home for Valentine’s Day?
