I have to admit, for someone who appreciates color so much, I’ve always played it pretty safe when it comes to my frames. I’ve worn sunglasses in all sorts of colors and prints, but when it comes to my glasses, I’ve been afraid to experiment.
Vision glasses are not something I buy everyday and they can be pricey, so I’ve always opted for the safe colors such as black and brown. Since I’ve had my glasses for a little over a year, it’s time to venture to a pair of frames that represent my colorful and creative personality more accurately.
Enter: Derek Cardigan
The second I saw someone on Instagram wearing the vintage cat eye style Derek Cardigan 7005 frames; I knew I needed a pair of these in my life! These glasses have a 1960’s vintage vibe, with just the right amount of modern elements in the mix. Best of all? They are available in lilac, which is my current color crazy!
Once I placed my order with Coastal.com, I received my prescription glasses a few days later. I couldn’t believe how fast they arrived, but I’m not complaining!
Now that I’ve been wearing my new colored frames for a few weeks, I’ve had a chance to experiment with incorporating them into my daily looks. I’ve worn them to work and out for play, but regardless where I go; everyone always has something positive to say.
I never thought that colored frames could be so versatile and I can’t believe it took me this long to give them a whirl. I know I’m not the only one that has hesitated about colorful glasses, so I’m sharing a few tips on how to style them with any look! But remember, these are not rules, just simply tips. The only rule to follow when styling your colored frames is to always wear what makes your feel confident and your best!
How to Look Chic in Colored Frames
Pop of color- If you want to play it safe with colored frames, but want your complete look to be polished, try pairing your colored frames with a head-to-toe monochromatic look. Think all white or all black, which will allow your glasses to be the center of attention.
Color explosion- If popping color is too vanilla for you, try wearing your colored frames with an outfit composed of colors that compliment your glasses. Add your own quirky touch by mixing in a print on your top, bottom or shoes.
Coordinate your frames with your makeup- Colored lipsticks, particularly non-traditional shades such as blue and green are having a major moment right now. Try pairing your lip color with your frames for an added punch of color when heading out and about with friends.
