Disclosure: I have received promotional consideration and free styling products from Hair Cuttery.
In South Florida, summer is basically the most extreme season of our endless summer. The sun will beam with no mercy, but I make the best of it by cooling off at the beach or the pool. All of this while soaking up a little sun to get my Florida glow on.
The extra sunshine boosts my vitamin D level, but it also means that I have to be extra cautious to keep it healthy. Luckily, I have a Hair Cuttery location near me, where my tresses can get the TLC they deserve during the summer.
Guess what? You can still soak up the summer, without comprising the health of your hair by following my summer hair care tips that I put together while at my recent visit to Hair Cuttery.
Summer Hair Care Tips with Hair Cuttery
1. Deep Conditioning Treatment- The pool and the sun are fun, but they aren’t fun and games when it comes to your hair health. While at my Hair Cuttery visit, my stylist did a deep conditioning treatment on my hair. She coated my hair with a generous amount of Redken Chemistry Shot Phase Extreme. This deep conditioner provides a heavy dose of protein that fortifies the chemistry of the hair and helps to reinforce the internal fibers of each strand. To seal in the healing effects, my stylist finished my treatment with a few spritzes of Redken Shot Phix.
2. Trimmed Tresses- Hair generally grows more in the summer. I personally like to cut my hair every 6 weeks in the summer to get rid of dead ends, especially since I have color processed hair. I’m also prone to split ends, so I try to get rid of them before they damage my hair any further. I don’t like my stylist to take too much off of my hair because I like to keep it long. My Hair Cuttery stylist listened to my needs and lightly dusted my ends, just like I asked her to.
3. Protect Your Strands- In the summer months I try to expose my hair to the least amount of heat as possible, since I’m exposing to other hazards such as pool water regularly. But, there are times when a blowout is a necessity! Before applying heat, my Hair Cuttery stylist applied a small amount of Redken Align 12 onto my hair. This is a protective smoothing lotion that provides heat protection, while providing frizz control for a super smooth blowout.
4. Prolong Your Blowout- I don’t know what it is about getting a professional blowout that makes it so much better than the ones I do at home. Oh wait, I do know—they are pros!
My Hair Cuttery stylist blew my long longs into perfection and gave me a blowout that lasted for days. She also suggested that I take home the Redken Pillow Proof Blow Dry 2 Day Extender to maintain my do in between. This dry shampoo helped to absorb the natural oils in my hair, making my blowout last for 4 days. I was able to get an extra 2 days out of it by styling my hair with a headband, for a total of 6 days before having to wash my hair.
5. Share Your #MyHCLook- I l had a good Hair Cuttery experience and I feel that I received great service for an affordable price, as well as an awesome blowout!

I have to say, I put this blowout to the test and it defeated every challenge. When I walked out of the salon, it was drizzling and I thought for sure I would have frizzy hair by the time I got to my car. Nope! My hair was still looking fly!
Then, I spent the day at Swim Miami bouncing from roof top parties to runway shows. All of this during what seems like the hottest day. Ever! But you know it’s not Florida, if an afternoon show doesn’t pop up. The storm was serious, for all of the 10 minutes that it last. It may not seem long, but its enough time break havoc on my hair. I was sure that my hair was frizz city, but I was incredibly wrong. It was still holding strong! See for yourself!
