Smokey Look($3.49)- Is a Mega shine lip gloss in a sherbet orange shade. This color is also very transparent. In the photo above, I lined my lips with NYX soft brown and then applied Smokey look over it. This is a nice look with a smokey lip eye since it is soft and neutral.
Lala lipstick ($ 2.99) with Prune Lip Liner ($3.49)- Lala is a beautiful deep lilac color, and goes on very smoothly leaving an opaque finish. For this lip, I also used Prune as a liner, which also applies consistently and smoothly. I did not use a gloss over this, but I did swatch Lala with Pink Salsa and Smokey look over it, in the swatches above.
The Verdict- I am a fan of NYX products and feel you get a pretty good bang for your buck. I really like the lip color and liner , especially this particular color combination. I feel like the mega shine lip glosses are “ok”. I like the fact that the glosses weren’t to sticky, I personally can’t stand sticky glosses. I did not like the fact that disposable lip gloss wands do not fit in the tube. When working with clients its important to be sanitary, and now I have to take an extra step by extracting the product from the tube using the provided wand, before using my disposable wands. I also feel like the glosses wear off rather quickly. I definitely would use the lip color and liner with clients, but I don’t think I would use the glosses. On a brighter note, I feel like for $3.50 they work great for a daily use product, and will use these for myself personally.
Have you tried any of these products? If so, what’s your take?
