If you have been with me since I started my blog, you would know that my little space in the blogosphere started in New York. I created Pretty In Pigment while living in the Big Apple for three reasons:
- Live Journal and Xanga were my jam in high school and I missed it!
- I wanted to create a place to develop as a makeup artist, while sharing my love for makeup with other beauty junkies.
- I was pretty broke at the time and needed a cheap alternative to makeup school, as well as a cost effective way to entertain the creative monster within me.
Shortly after starting Pretty In Pigment I moved back to Florida. I was sad to move at first, but I redirected my energy to growing my then beauty blog. I never imagined that my blog would evolve in the capacity that it did and lead to so much personal growth.
In the last six years I have developed into a makeup artist (I freelanced through college) and even went on to work on the corporate side of a mass makeup brand. I have grown as a writer and have contributed to multiple online publications. My confidence and sense of style has flourished and I’m proud to have been one of first plus size fashion bloggers to join the blogging scene in South Florida. I’m grateful for all of the opportunities that Florida offered me, but it was time for me to turn the page again.
In August I traded in palm trees for evergreens and moved to Seattle. My move kicked off another new beginning and yet another new chapter in my life. I’ve spent the last few months settling in and exploring this beautiful place, but I also have done something I’ve never done before. I have been working on forming an intimate relationship with myself. Sure, I know myself, but I want to know more. I want to know more than just my passions, I want to know my purpose. What better way to do some soul searching than over a latte? Hence the shirt. 😉
In my quest to rediscovering myself, I’ve noticed that the Pacific Northwest has a funny way of rubbing its magic off on the people who live here. As for myself, it’s greatly changed my prospective. Rather than spending time researching fashion trends, I’m searching for the best hikes for meditation. Here’s how I know I’m in a transitional period in my life. I spent $200 on the ugliest hiking shoes I’ve ever owned, but the most functional by far. I’ve never done that before, but it brings me to my next point.
For the last six years I have regularly shared my thoughts about my favorite beauty products (especially lipstick) and fashion finds. I spent a lot of time researching and sharing tips and tricks with you about these topics, but I feel like in the process of finding the perfect vampy lipstick, I forgot to share the most important thing about myself– me.
That’s about to change though, starting with this post, which I’m sure you’ve noticed is very different that most of my Fashion Friday posts (In this case Fashion Saturday because yesterday was too beautiful to sit behind my computer). It’s the first of many posts in which I will be sharing some of my personal thoughts and experiences. Style is part of my personal aesthetic and it will always shine through, but I want you to get to know me better. Not just about the part of me that loves a good designer sale, but the part of me that I’m learning about everyday. Don’t worry, I will continue to post about beauty and fashion, but in addition to that I will be sharing more about my life here in the PNW. You can expect to learn more about my favorite places to find vintage plus size clothing, the best ramen, and all about my weekend trips all over the west coast. Regardless what I blog about, you can always count on me doing it wearing my favorite lipstick. I’m really excited about this new chapter of Pretty In Pigment and I hope you are too!

Hey Ann! Thank you for the compliment. I appreciate it. You would think that as I blogger I would have no problem sharing, but I do reserve a lot of my personal thoughts. I’m working on changing that one post at a time.
