The Hunger Games Catching Fire Makeup Look
Tis the season for ghosts and ghouls—Halloween is right around the corner!
This year I have prepared a handful of Halloween makeup looks for my 3rd Annual Halloween Makeup Series. I have put together looks for a variety of characters, from creepers to beauties and tips on how to recreate the looks at home.
The Hunger Games Catching Fire Makeup Look
The Hunger Games Catching Fire will be premiering on the big screen this November and I’m sure it will rock the big screen again. This is a great film to find costume inspiration from because you can most likely use things that you currently have in your vanity to create your look. It’s also a great choice for a last minute costume idea.
The look that I created for The Hunger Games is inspired by the colorful character, Effie Trinket, who is from the Capitol and in charge of taking contestants to District 12.
Effie Trinket has an up-beat and spunky personality that is matched with an avant-garde sense of style. This character is the perfect costume idea for a fashionista!
When I created this makeup look, I knew I wanted it to be over-the-top! I used gold as my key color to represent fortune and elegance and few pieces to give this look an Effie Trinket feel. I also found inspiration from movie posters for the film.
Tips For Creating an Effie Trinket or Capitol Inspired Makeup Look:
- Use bold colors, texture and bedazzling to create a flashy look.
- Pick a focus point and make it pop! Remember if you are going with detailed eyes; go easier with the lips and vice-a-versus.
- Lashes are a must for this look. The bigger the better!
- Effie Trinket is an eccentric character, make sure to carry this look with confidence!
It’s also very important to pair this makeup look with the right costume. A colorful wig, old prom dress and tacky jewelry are great for creating an Effie Trinket or Capitol look inspired by The Hunger Games Catching Fire. Don’t have these items in your closet? Check your local consignment store or thrift store for great pieces.
