When I decorated my bedroom, my idea was to create a peaceful sanctuary that I could come home to each day. A space that fosters relaxation, while providing me the leeway to unleash my creativity on paper.
I carefully designed a bedroom that I’m proud to call my inspiring sanctuary. Every evening after taking a soothing shower, I go into my room, light my candle, pour myself a cup of tea, and take out my gratitude journal from my nightstand. In this therapeutic session I document all of the things that I’m thankful for that day. Even on a bad day, I find things to be thankful for because life is enough of a reason to be appreciative. I sometimes even jot down my thoughts and make notes of the things that inspired me that day.
How to Make Your Bedroom into an Inspiring Sanctuary:
Chose a relaxing color scheme- Color is a powerful tool and it has the potential to alter your mood. Cool colors, such as blue, green, and purple will make you feel calm. They can make a room look bigger, which is perfect for small spaces. Your bedroom should be a sanctuary that welcomes relaxation and rejuvenation, so stick with cool colors for your décor.
I decorated my bedroom in teal and white because I feel that the combination between the two is divine. The teal tones make me feel relaxed, while the white accents give an open and clean feeling. Select the colors that speak to your soul and envelop yourself in them.
Comfort is key- In my opinion; your bedroom should be the room that offers the most comfort. It’s the space that you will recharge your body and mind, so give yourself a comfortable bed to rest on. Everyone has a different preference, but I like a soft bed and cool, crisp linens.
Take your time when purchasing linens and make sure to feel all of the samples before making a decision. Thread count is something that you should pay attention to and I would suggest that you always buy sheets that are over 800 threads.
Inspiring Imagery- They say that your eyes are the window to your soul, so stimulate them with beautiful photos and wise words. Fill your space with photos of loved ones, special memories and quotes that inspire you.
Go Green- Plants are a symbol of life, and you should incorporate one into your bedroom. Plants provide oxygen and will help you feel less stressed. Live plants such as a succulent or a bonsai tree are a great idea. You can also opt for a plant that blooms, such an orchid.
Just keep in mind that plants and trees require care. If you can’t commit, fake flowers or plants can add the appearance of greenery, without the responsibility.
Ignite Your Senses- Energize your sanctuary with a candle that releases invigorating scents into the air. I like an aroma that is gentle and makes me feel relaxed, while awakening my creative flow. The new Glade® Blue Odyssey™ Large Candle (Sold first at Walmart) fits perfectly into my room. It fills my room with earthy scents, such as water, air, and woods, as well as notes sweet peach.
This candle is new at Walmart and I’m thrilled to have been one of the first to try it. I haven’t stopped burning it and I’m happy that it burns up to 60 hours. Trust me, I will be burning it until the last wax droplet!
Right now Walmart has a deal on Glade® Blue Odyssey™ Large Candles (9.2 oz. size): Buy two at Walmart and receive a $5 virtual gift card!

I really like your room. The pillow with matching message in a frame is a very nice touch. 🙂 I have similar colors of teal and white in my room too. I agree it is comforting and relaxing.
