Happy New Year! 2015 is already here, can you believe it?
I’m not the type of person to say “new year, new me” because I don’t feel that the flip of a calendar page can change a person completely. I do think that that the New Year is a great time to find ways to live the best life you can for the next year by setting reasonable resolutions.
Instead of having a scrolling list of resolutions (Save money, go to the gym, lose weight—you get the drift?), I’ve decided to keep things simple this year. I have one resolution this year and it’s simply to be happy everyday. Easier said than done, right?
To keep me on track in my journey towards a joyful year, I have put together a few simple strategies to get me to my goal, which may help you too!
5 ways to live happier in 2015
Let it go- Take all the baggage, grunges, and negativity of 2014 and get rid of it. You can’t start of the New Year on the right path if you are still holding onto the past. Looking for ways to let go? In my early 20s, my friends and I used to write all of problems on a balloon. Once we were done scribbling the names of boys that broke our heart, we would let our troubles drift away by letting the balloon go. This can be very mentally satisfying and freeing.
Create a Vision Board- Making a vision board is great way to get all of your goals and dreams in one place. I have a corkboard in my office, which is my revolving vision board. I pin photos of things that I want (like a new car), quotes that inspire me, places that I want to visit and pics that I find inspiring. This is how I stay focused and keep my eye on the prize.
Practice Gratitude- When you’re in the world of beauty of fashion, it’s easy to get lost in the materialistic elements of life. I have decided to start a gratitude journal to help me stay grounded. Every night I write one thing in my gratitude journal that I am grateful for. This will be a handy reference guide the next time I find myself caught up in negative thinking.
Connect with Nature- I recently wrote a post about my recent experience with nature (read more about it here) and how nature can teach us lessons that apply to our daily lives. Take a moment to go outside, feel the sun light on your skin and take in all that Mother Nature has to offer.
Healthy Habits- To achieve maximum happiness, you must be healthy. Take care of you body by exercising and being aware of what you put in it and on it. In recent years, we are hearing more and more about the importance of eating organic, but you should also think about the things you put on your body, like deodorant and makeup. Do your research and pick the products that are best for your overall health.

I hope you don’t think this is weird, but if that is you (or whoever that is) in the pictures above….you are gorgeous! If I see a woman I think is pretty, or they have a nice outfit on….I have to bring it to their attention! I would like it done to me! So….you are beautiful!!!!

I have a bad habit of letting little things overwhelm me. My plan this year is to not sweat the small stuff… Or at least try my best…
