I’m excited to announce that I will be doing another “Epic Summer Movie Makeup Series” this summer. I created makeup looks for some of the hottest movies last summer and I had so much fun doing it, that I decided to do it again. The first look I’m creating is inspired for one of the biggest movies this summer, “The Great Gatsby.”
I enjoyed reading “The Great Gatsby” when I was in high school and I’m thrilled that the book is making its way to the big screen yet again this friday. “The Great Gatsby” takes place in the roaring twenties, which happens to be my favorite decade in history. I have created a Great Gatsby inspired makeup look that is full of drama just like the film. Although the makeup look is inspired by “The Great Gatsby,” it can also be worn for a flapper girl costume or a prohibition-era themed party.
To create “The Great Gatsby” makeup look, I capture the makeup trends of the decade. The 1920’s were known for its theatrical take on makeup and there are a few signature traits to get the look. Black rimmed eyes, dramatic lashes, rouge cheeks and crimson lips are staple characteristics of the decade. There’s nothing modest about flapper girl makeup, it’s all about pushing boundaries just like the era!
