I always know when spring is on the horizon. I will be out and about in my favorite pair of cropped jeans, when I will suddenly feel them sticking to me. It’s not a fun feeling, but that’s usually the first sign that spring is on its way. When the heat starts to rise in South Florida, it’s officially time to bring out the shorts.
Believe it or not, as a Floridan, I don’t live in shorts all year long. In fact, I put them away for the winter and take advantage of the cooler climate when I can. But I have to admit, when I dig through my closet to look for my shorts, a weird feeling comes over me. It’s similar to the feeling I used to get on the first day of school. I’m excited to go back to wearing shorts, but I’m nervous at the same time. To condition myself for shorts season, I take a few steps to prepare my wardrobe and body, so that I can look and feel my best!
Everything You Need To Know To Rock Shorts This Spring
Stock Up On Stylish Shorts- With the start of the new season, go through your shorts and I find the ones that fit and feel best. Wash and iron them if needed, and put them in an accessible area of your closet or dresser.
If you would like to add new styles into your wardrobe, consider shorts with prints, pastel colors, distressed denim, and lace trims. These styles are very trendy this season an are a fun way to add a fresh flair to your wardrobe.
Get You Mind Ready- Some women feel insecure about wearing shorts. It’s natural to worry about lumps, bumps, veins, etc., but I feel that life is too short to miss out fun over those things. Anyways, looking good in shorts, starts from within. Any time I need a little confidence boost, I do a little trick to get my mind ready for shorts season. I look into the mirror, and say out loud the things that I love about myself and my body. With a little mental practice, you will on the road to rockin’ shorts too!
Out with the old, in with the new- Your skins been hiding under layers of clothing all winter long. Remove dry and dull skin by exfoliating your body with an exfoliating body scrub. You can easily make any body wash into a body scrub by pouring a handful of body scrub into a bowl, and then adding granulated sugar into the bowl until it has a pasty consistency. This will remove dead skin and will stimulate to production of new, youthful skin cells.
Get your glow on- I’m all about having a healthy glow, but I don’t believe in tanning because of the damaging effects it has on my skin. Instead, every time shorts season comes around, I head to Walmart and stock up JERGENS® Natural Glow products.
As soon as I know that I will be going somewhere that requires shorts (hello festival season), I start to get to gradually get my glow on!
I exfoliate my skin 2-3 times a week, but everyday I apply the JERGENS® Natural Glow® +FIRMING Daily Moisturizer all over my body. It’s easy to use, so all I do is apply it smooth, evenly and thoroughly just like any other moisturizer. The bonus is that it helps to reduce the appearance of cellulite in as little as 7 days! I use the firming glow moisturizer daily until I reach my desired level of color, then I continue to reapply 1- 2 times a week to maintain my color.
So that my face matches the rest of my body, I use the JERGENS® Natural Glow® FACE Daily Moisturizer with Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 20 on my face. After a few days, I have an all over glow that is perfect for my shorts debut!
Note: You can save $3.00 on any 2 full size Jergens® Natural Glow® Product (Offer excludes trial and travel sizes).
