I’m 5’2. Some might say I’m vertically challenged, I prefer to say I’m fun size. All jokes aside, #ShortPeopleProblems is a real struggle. It’s especially challenging when it comes to shopping for jeans, more so if you’re plus size like me. The combination of the two can lead to fitting room frustration, a feeling I’ve felt one too many times. After finding myself in that situation one too many times, I set off to find the perfect petite plus size jeans.
Petite Plus Size Jeans: 3 Denim Styles You Need In Your Wardrobe
Through the years I’ve tried all kinds of jeans, from all sorts of brands. I’ve found jeans that are the perfect length, but not the right fit or some that fit great but need tons of alterations. I’ve also settled for mediocre because it worked, but I really want to find go-to jeans. When you’re investing in closet staples like jeans, you want something that’s not OK, you want something that’s just right. That’s where Fitcode comes into play.
Fitcode: The secret to finding the perfect petite plus size jeans
We use technology for everything in our lives so why not use it to find a pair of dream jeans? Fitcode does just that. They’re a Seattle-based women-run brand that creates a clear process for shopping for jeans. The ladies at Fitcode don’t believe in shopping for “your size,” because if you’ve done any shopping as of late you’ll know that finding consistent sizes across brands is nearly impossible to find. Fitcode takes the frustration of fitting the right fit away in just a few clicks.
Here’s how Fitcode is redefining the shopping experience:
- Find your Fitcode. Your perfect fit starts with the fit quiz. Answer a few quick questions about your body shape to find your Fitcode.
- Shop your fit. You’ve got your Fitcode—now select Shop your fit to browse women’s denim.
- Browse styles in your Fitcode. Look for the Fitcode badge as you browse to see which styles we recommend for you. Select the badge to view fit details on variables that impact fit, like stretch, rise, inseam length, and sizing.
- Love your fit. Make your mark in great-fitting denim that makes you look as good as you feel.
Fitcode has changed how I shop for jeans. It’s made shopping for denim a pleasant experience and it all started when I met the team at a Denim Fit Lab with Jag Jeans.
Petite Plus Size Jeans: Jag Jeans
I discovered Jag Jeans through Fitcode and every since their jeans have started to take over my closet. Jag Jeans is another Seattle-based brand that was launched by women in September 2003. They specialize in high-quality denim, contemporary styling, and designing jeans that fit women of all shapes and sizes. They strive to make jeans that fit well, flatter, all in a variety of cuts and styles.
The first pair of Jag Jeans that I ever tried were the Boyfriend Jeans. This is a style I would have NEVER thought could work for me, but after trying them, I’ve been living in them ever since. My favorite thing about their denim is that it has stretch, but the jeans still hold their shape. That’s super important when you are plus size because you want to have support that moves with your body.

Talk about how having options exposed me to whole new world of jeans. Take a look at all of the jeans I have styled to work on my petite and plus-size frame.
Jag Jeans Maddie Skinny Cuff
The only thing I love more that skinny jeans is ankle length skinny jeans. The Marla Skinny Cuff jeans have both of those things and they also have a fun cuff to compliment them. They are made of Crosshatch denim that is heavy, yet soft to the touch. I have to say, I thought my bootcut Jag Jeans was my favorite until I met these. Every since I’ve been wearing my Maddie’s at least once a week.
Jag Jeans Marla Legging
I don’t know about you, but I’m obsessed with leggings. However, sometimes you need to wear real pants. That’s where the Marla leggings come into play. They provide the comfort of leggings while looking polished like jeans. The elastic waistband paired with the soft denim makes them dreamy to wear. The Marla’s don’t have pockets, so they are great when you want a completely smooth look.
Jag Jeans Petite Paley Boot
Bootcut jeans are a classic style to have in your denim collection because they work for all body types. The slightly flared bottoms wear nicely with jeans, as the name implies, but there also very flattering. This particular style features 5 pockets and no zipper. Instead, the jeans pull-on providing support in the midsection and no discomfort from buttons and zippers.
I have to admit, I wasn’t a fan of bootcut jeans. When one of the gals from Jag Jeans suggested that I try them, I was hesitant, but I know that fashion is about trying new thing. I’m happy I decided to give them a whirl because I really like how they look on my body. The dark rinse is nice for when I want a pair of “dressy” jeans and I can’t believe how much I like them.
