I’ve been wanting a sequin skirt for some time, but I never bring myself to actually buy one. Mostly because the cute ones are usually uber pricey, or I just don’t like the style. All of my shopping stars aligned a few weeks ago when I spotted a super cute Gold Sequin Skirt by Ava & Viv at Target. After trying it on and seeing that it was under $40, I knew it was meant to be!
Then came the fun part: figuring out ways to wear my new sequin skirt. Even for a fashionista such as myself, this was a bit of challenge because I always think holiday when I see sequins. But after taking out almost every single article of clothing in my closet, I found 3 ways to wear the skirt that I love! Best of all, these styles can work way beyond the holiday season, so I can get tons of use out of my new favorite piece!
3 Ways to Wear a Gold Sequin Skirt
Casual & Chic
Who would of thought that a casual plaid top could look so cute with a party-ready gold sequined skirt!?! The combo is the perfect balance of casual and chic, but the trick to pulling it off is the finishing touches. Add a pair of oxfords to tone down the look, or dress it up with a pair of studded heels. Accessories also play a big part in bringing this look together. Experiment with a statement necklace to add a bit of bling to the plaid top.
Midi Mix
Midi skirts and midi tops were practically made for each other, but so is the black and gold color combo. This NYE-worthy look can be taken to the next level with elegant heels and accessories.
Sweater & Sequins
The juxtapose of a gold sequin skirt with a sweater will give your outfit an instant dose of effortless style. One thing you must always keep in mind to avoid looking sloppy is wearing the look with the right pair of shoes. Opt for a pair of strappy heels or colored pumps, but don’t go too crazy because the comfy sweater and gold sequined skirt combination should be the star of the show.
How do you wear a sequin skirt? Do you wear sequins year round or just during the holidays? Let me know!

I love this post. I got this skirt for Christmas and because the sequins are matte, it’s definitely more wearable than a more sparkly skirt.
I wore it with a black tee, denim jacket, motorcycle boots, and a crimson tissue cashmere scarf.
Right now, I’m trying to figure out what kind of shoes to make it a little more dressy than the boots, but not quite as dressy as the fancy sandals you donned.

I’d love to see how you styled it. The way you described sounds fun! As far as the shoes, how about pointed toe kitten heels?
