Unzipped Zombie Makeup Tutorial
This is a special-fx makeup look I created of both an unzipped face and a zombie in one, for this awesome Unzipped Zombie Makeup tutorial.
This is technically the last look of my “Blast From The Past Series” and the first look of my “Halloween2012 Series” all packed into one look/post!
This is technically the last look of my “Blast From The Past Series” and the first look of my “Halloween2012 Series” all packed into one look/post!
Last year I created an unzipped face called “What lies beneath,” which exposed my bloody flesh. This year, I decided to kick it up a notch and exposed my INNER ZOMBIE!!

I created a very basic tutorial on how to recreate this look.
Start off by applying you full face of makeup as usual. For the eye look I used NYX Black bean as a base with Bullet proof on top, then blended it out with MAC’s Bamboo. Underneath I lined my eyes with Sugarpill’s Velocity and Mochi. I chose a darker eye look with heavy sculpting/contouring because I wanted to create the illusion that my face was slowly transitioning into a zombie.
Step 1: Attach the zipper using liquid latex. (make sure you are not allergic to latex!) Clear latex works and a flesh tone is even better. For a more detailed explanation of this step click here. |
Step 2: Using foundation, color the zipper to match your skin color. Then, use liquid latex to apply ripped pieces of paper towel on areas that you want to create “Zombie Skin.” |
Step3: Apply an additional layer of liquid latex over the zombie skin.Allow the latex to dry. |
Step 6: Now using a pointy tool, carefully start to make tears in the paper towels. Pull and rip the areas to your liking. |
Step 8: Keep adding depth and dimension using shades of green, brown, black and red. You can also create veins and define creases on the skin. Take your time! |
Here’s my finished Unzipped Zombie!

Thanks for your comment Tony. I enjoy constructive criticism to improve my work. Instead of just saying it could be better, can you give me some feedback on how you think I could improve the look?
