Halloween Makeup and Costume Ideas: Popcorn Attendant
Step right up, step right up: For the creepy carneys have arrived!
This year I decided to bring to life a sideshow/circus themed collection of Halloween makeup and costume ideas. This makeup series was inspired by the upcoming season of the FX hit show, American Horror Story.
And now without further ado, I present…
Perfectly Popped Popcorn Attendant
What? You don’t like your popcorn laced with fresh droplets of blood?
Creating a circus themed Halloween costume is really exciting, especially when you give an everyday person a creepy new twist. This Halloween costume idea is not only fun, but it’s also easy to recreate and budget friendly.
A few key things to keep in mind when recreating this perfectly popped popcorn attendant look:
- The bloodier the merrier.
- Don’t forget to add dirt (black wax) and fake blood to hands and teeth. This will give it a completed look.
- Creepy characters that you would like to appear morbid should have hallowed out eyes (see the black?) and cut cheekbones. This will give them a more skeletal appearance.
- To kick this look up, add a pair of creepy contacts, which will really set the tone.
Credits: I teamed up with a wonderful creative team, which included the Latham Circus (model in these images is Tammi), Theatrics Lake Worth (check out their fB too!) and Kari from Topanga Marie Photography to bring this creepy circus to life. Makeup and costuming by me.

What did you use to glue the popcorn to the face?
Sahily says
Hello! I used latex, but you can use eye lash glue and it will work the same. Make sure to put a drop on the popcorn and allow it to get tacky before placing it on the drop that’s on your skin.
