My dad is a farmer.
The interesting thing about farmers is that they have a passion for nurturing. They plant tiny seeds and shower them with water, food, and love. Then, they tend to the plants and watch them flourish into prosperous crops. My dad is a successful farmer and has used this approach to parenting, which is why he has been the anchor in my life.
The Farmer and The Fashionista: The Story of My Father and I
One of the earliest memories I have as a child of my dad is at our family farm. As a kid I used to spend the summers there with him. I remember waking up before the sun was even out to make the hour long commute to the 20-acre farmland. The journey always began with a quick stop to pick up breakfast and then we spent the rest of the drive conversing, while watching the sunrise. My dad always took advantage of this time to share his words of wisdom, which at the time seemed redundant, but has made me into the woman I am today.
As I’ve grown older, the visits to the farm are less frequent, but one thing has never changed– the conversations. I feel like my dad takes every opportunity he can take to drill his ideals into me. The one thing he’s always told me is to be the best person that I can be in life. He encourages me to learn as much as I can, experience life to the fullest and live a life well lived. My father has imprinted these fundamentals in me and I often reflect on them when making important decisions. I’m forever grateful for his encouragement and for supporting me when I decided to pursue a creative career. My dad isn’t exactly a fashionable guy, but he knows that I’m passionate about this field and always pushes me to the extra mile.
As the person that has always helped keep me grounded through the years, I like to show my dad appreciation toward him on special occasions such as Father’s Day. While shopping at my local mall this weekend, I popped into Macy’s to find a gift for my everyday hero.
My dad is a great guy who always puts his family and friends before himself, so I wanted to give him a gift that represents him. Similar to my father, the spirit of the Nautica brand is based on traditional values, and a man that is focused on his connection with loved ones. I purchase the Nautica Life Gift Set for my dad because I felt that it depicts my father perfectly.
This deluxe gift set ($65.00) is a small token of my appreciation to celebrate the lifelong journey of my loving relationship with my dad.
It includes:
- 3.4 oz Eau de Toilette
- 2.5 oz Aftershave Balm
- 2.5 oz Shower Gel
- 1 oz Eau de Toilette
I was compelled to purchase this set for him because I really liked the scent of the fragrance and thought it would suit him well. It’s blended with freshness, mysterious aromatics, and seductive woods, which I think my father will really appreciate. He never buys cologne for himself, so this year I decided to shower him with a gift that will remind him of our special bond each time he uses an item from the set.
I was so excited to give him the gift, that I actually gave it to him early in a very special place—at his farm. Giving him the gift in a place that holds so many memories of him made this Father’s Day extra special for the both of us.

Thank you Dana. The farm was a fun place to be as a kid. I particularly enjoyed catching lizards and riding on the tractor.

Love the story! Reminds me when I was a kid I would go to work with my dad. We used to always stop at this little shop and he would buy me a little pack of powdered donuts and a chocolate milk. Screams nutrition huh?
But…
I will be making a detour after work this week, popping into Macy’s and picking up this set for my pops. Maybe I’ll grab him some powdered donuts and a chocolate milk while I’m at it ☺️
