The BB: “L’Oreal Youth Code” ($12.99)
They Say: L’Oreal promises that this product will: even out complexion, illuminate, perfect, moisturize and correct skin in as little as 7 days, all in one step. The product also contains a broad-spectrum sunscreen of SPF 15 to protect your skin from the damaging effects of the sun.
I Say: I tried the L’Oreal Youth Code BB for two weeks. This product offers a good quantity of product (2.5 oz) for about $15. My first reaction when opening the bottle was “wow…this smells really good.” The cream has a strong floral fragrance, but some may find it to potent and offensive (especially if you are sensitive to fragrances).
I purchased the Medium shade because they only other option was light, and it was to pale. Initially when I applied the product it seemed to match up fairly well, but then I noticed it has a reddish base so it left my skin a little orangey (“Chettoish” as I like to call it). I had to mix it with a bit of foundation for it to blend better with my skin.
The consistency is very nice; it feels a lot like a tinted moisturizer. It applies easily and smoothly. As for coverage, the L’Oreal Youth Code BB offers sheer to light coverage; it covers small pores, imperfections and minor blemishes. When the product is first applied it leaves a nice hydrated and dewy “illuminating” finish, but unfortunately as the day progressed I noticed the coverage wears out and it made my face appear greasy. There is a big difference between illuminating skin and oily skin.
Results: In all honesty, I wasn’t pleased with the L’Oreal Youth Code BB Cream. It didn’t match my skin well, not to mention, the sweaty appearance after 3 hours of wearing it. The only good things I can really say is that it’s inexpensive and in the initial application it leaves a healthy and hydrated glow, but don;t get to attached because it wears away quickly. The BB caused my skin to severally break out like I was a teenaged all over again. This was a huge turn off!
My Overall Measure up!
I think this product may work better on someone with dry skin and possibly women with more mature skin, since they generally lack hydration and can benefit from the extra dewy appearance.
Have you tried this product? Thoughts?
