I love fall for more that just the return of the PSL, but for change in the air, the TV shows, Halloween and of course, the fashion!
In terms of fashion, the first thing that reminds me of fall is plaid. I’m not sure why, but I always think of red tartan print everywhere, from clothing to home accessories. In recent years this brings a smile to my face, but my relationship with the print would classify as “It’s Complicated” if I had to list it on my Facebook profile.
To make things easier, here’s a timeline of my relationship with plaid:
Before 1989- I hated plaid. Why you ask? Because of an itchy plaid holiday dresses that my mother made me wear for my yearly Christmas pictures.
1990- Catholic School uniform—enough said.
1991-1997- No plaid. I didn’t even want to look at it.
1998-2000- This was my alternative phase and a plaid shirt was essential with my combat boots.
2001-2010- I didn’t wear combat boots anymore; therefore, I didn’t wear plaid.
2011-Present- Hello again Plaid! I sure have missed you!
Staying Rad in Plaid This Fall
Now that you understand my affliction with the print, you can understand why I’m excited to stay rad in plaid this fall. Not that you can’t wear plaid all year long, because I do, but this print is a fall staple for me. I have a few plaid pieces that that I like to wear during this time of the year, especially my tartan skater skirt.
This year I’ve been really into the black and white color combo and I have a new favorite plaid shirt. I’m proud to admit that I’ll be wearing this shirt once a week for the next month because it’s incredibly comfy and goes with practically anything. Most importantly, it’s cool enough to wear in the “not so cool” Florida version of fall.
Best of all, since black and white are classic shades, I can pair the outfit with my fall makeup look.
As I transition my makeup from summer to fall, I’ve started to stash away my rainbow shades, and have swapped them for rich shades such as Bordeaux and brown. These colors are always a sure sign of autumn and are great for both day and evening looks on virtually any skin tone. Think copper eyelids, glowing skin (it’s all about strobing this season!), topped with deep red lips. Dark lips are a signature look for me during this time of year and I feel like I’m not the only one that loves this trend. All of my gal pals have been texting me for tips on how to wear dark lipstick. My most important tip that I always follow when wearing dark lipstick is making sure that my smile is fresh and beautiful.
Since brushing alone misses 75% of your mouth, it’s super important to floss each day, as well as use a mouthwash like LISTERINE® to maintain excellent oral health. I wash my mouth twice a day with LISTERINE® and it’s always a sensory experience that I can feel hard at work as it kills the bacteria in my mouth. Bacteria can cause bad breath, but it also leads to tooth decay and gum disease, all which do not pair well with a beautiful fall lip color.
LISTERINE® has always been a trendsetter in the oral care industry, but now they are taking their style to a new level by partnering with Target’s Mad for Plaid Collection. LISTERINE® gave their bottles a fashionable wardrobe by outfitting them in plaid for a limited time. These #RinseMadeRad bottles will be available at Target from September 13th – October 31st. Being the plaid obsessed fashionista that I am, I stocked up on these LISTERINE® bottles to give my bathroom sink a snazzy makeover for the season!
If you’re mad for plaid like me, you’ll be happy to hear that you can score these #RinseMadeRad LISTERINE® bottles from 9/13-10/31 with a Cartwheel offer for 10% off.
How are you incorporating plaid into your look this fall? Will you be adding the LISTERINE® #RinseMadeRad bottles into your bathroom decor?
