Disclosure: I received a complementary treatment at The Spa at Cedarbrook Lodge for editorial consideration. All thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.
I have a confession to make. As much as I’m a fanatic about skincare, I’ve been slacking on my facial game for far too long. Until a few weeks ago, I had only had one facial this year. That’s not the norm for me since I typically go in for a treatment every three months to keep my skin looking its best. With fall’s arrival and my need for a professional skin care treatment, I decided to try the Oxygen Facial at The Spa at Cedarbrook Lodge.
About The Spa at Cedarbrook Lodge
Just 10 minutes away from SeaTac airport nestled between evergreens you will find The Cedarbrook Lodge. While the area that the Lodge is located in is surrounded by commercial businesses and residential homes, The Cedarbrook Lodge really gives you a sense that you’re escaping the hustle and bustle of the city to a wilderness retreat. The Cedarbrook Lodge offers accommodations, a farm-to-table restaurant called the Copperleaf, event spaces, and of course the spa. The decor at the lodge is, you guessed it, mountain lodge inspired. But it doesn’t have your typically stuffy ski lodge digs, instead, there are modern touches throughout the property with plenty of panoramic views of their lush outdoor green spaces.
The Spa at Cedarbrook Lodge incorporates many natural elements into the decor, with chic organic finishes. Upon entering the spa, you are greeted by therapeutic aromas, soft sounds, and gentle mood lighting that helps you transition into a relaxing mindset. It doesn’t end there, once you arrive at the spa waiting area, there is a rock waterfall on the wall, a cozy fireplace, and refreshments such as homemade granola and fruit-infused water. The plush couches and chaise lounge chairs in the waiting room are inviting, and I took a few minutes to sit in a cozy robe on the couch to munch of some granola and take in my surroundings before my facial.
What is an oxygen facial?
The Spa at Cedarbrook Lodge offers a few different types of facials. I chose to opt for the 50-minute oxygen facial because I wanted to give my skin a refresh before the fall season to get rid of all the dead skin from my summer of sunnin’. The focus of this particular facial treatment is to deeply cleanse the skin while improving the cell turn over by increasing blood circulation in the skin. The result: A natural glow for welcoming the new season!
My oxygen facial experience at The Spa at the Cedarbrook Lodge
As soon as I entered the treatment room, my esthetician Martha, made me feel right at home. She made sure I was comfortable and did a fantastic job at explaining the treatment to me. Martha walked me through what I should expect from the oxygen facial, she talked to me about my skin, the products she would be using on me, and what to expect over the next few days.
Martha started my treatment by applying a series of cleansing masks using pure-plant organic products by Êminence. None of the treatments were painful, but there was one fizzafoliant mask that caused a little bit of tingling on my skin. This is completely normal because this mask acts like a peel to remove dead skin and stimulate skin cell turn over by bringing blood to the surface of the skin. Martha monitored my skin the entire time, and make sure I was comfortable until the treatment was complete. During the remainder of my treatment, Martha massaged my head, neck, and arms while my skin basked in nourishing products. This was my favorite part of the treatment and I felt so relaxed during and after the session.
My oxygen facial ended with Martha applying a healthy dose of Êminence Calm Skin Chamomile Moisturizer (she was kind enough to even give me a sample to take home). Martha mentioned that my skin could temporarily be red, and I was expecting to have a significant amount of redness. To my surprise, my skin was only slightly blushed, and it went away within a few hours. By the next morning my skin was back to normal, but with a lovely radiance. I didn’t even wear foundation for a few days. I really enjoyed my treatment, and I look forward to returning to The Spa at Cedarbrook Lodge soon!
