New Year, New Look | Purple Hair
2013 was a wonderful year for me. I accomplished many things, such as finishing my Bachelor’s degree, growing as a blogger and welcoming my furbaby, Gia, into my life. But 2014 is a New Year and I decided to ring in the New Year with a new look!
Like most women, when I’m looking for a change, I instantly start questioning my relationship with my hair.
I was happy with the length of my hair, but I was losing touch with my color. The ombre trend has been fun and I wasn’t totally ready to let it go, but I wanted something more adventurous for 2014. After pinning tons of color ideas and researching spring 2014 hair trends, I decided I wanted something that reflected my colorful personality.
This called for a trip to visit my friends at Salon Sora.
You probably remember my recent post about Salon Sora, the super stylish mega salon located in Boca Raton, Florida. I recently stopped in for their grand opening, and after meeting the staff and learning about their wide-range of services, I knew that this was my kind of full-service salon.
On the day of my appointment, I consulted with stylist, Natalia Lahud, about my recent craving for something bright. Ever since I heard that Radiant Orchid is Pantone’s color of the year for 2014, I became obsessed with the idea of having purple hair. Lucky for me, Natalia is a fan of wild colors and I knew she would do an amazing job at transforming my tresses!
While I wish I could have full-blown purple hair like Doe Deere, I had to be modest of with my hair modification. I still wanted to be able to look presentable in professional settings.
After sharing my concerns with Natalia, we decided that dying a few face framing pieces in the under layer of my hair would be best route for me. Keeping my wild side underneath my hair would give me the flexibility to be show off my colorful side when I want to, and hide it when I need to.
To get the look I wanted, I had to do a double process. What that means, is that Natalia had to lift sections of my hair, using a gentle Goldwell bleach. Then, she applied the custom purple shade that she mixed using Goldwell colors to each of the appropriate sections.
When it was time for my final rinse, Tom took special precautions to keep my color intact. He applied a Goldwell locker, which is a special formula designed to lock in color. This was my favorite part of the process, because while the locker set into my hair, Tom covered me in a warm towel infused with lavender. It was such a nice touch, the kind of personalized service you can always expect from Salon Sora.
After my color was in place, I was jumping in my seat to see my results. But before I could see the finished product, Natalia trimmed my hair, and gave me some long layers to frame my face.
Was the process lengthy? Yes. Was it worth it? OMG YES!
I’m so happy with my new look and it’s exactly what I wanted for my New Year’s look. Thank you so much Frank for inviting me to get my new look at Salon Sora and Natalia for creating the perfect new look for me!
