I recently discovered LAURA GELLER New York during Ulta Beauty’s 21 Days of Beauty Sale. I tried their Balance-n-Brighten Foundation, which I love, so I was thrilled to receive a pretty box filled with the new LAURA GELLER Iconic Baked Sculpting Lipsticks.
This lipstick collection, which launched in July 2015, marks the first-ever baked and sculpted lipsticks for LAURA GELLER. The artisan-baked lipsticks have a curved bullet shape, designed for a single-swipe application and claim to provide “long-lasting, high impact wear.”
The process to create the breakthrough formula is quite interesting: Each color begins as a loose pigment and is baked with a complex of oils for 12 hours to create each smooth color pigment. After baking, the pigments are mixed with moisturizing ingredients such as Almond Oil, Apricot Butter and Sunflower oil to create creamy color perfection.

As promised, each of the LAURA GELLAR Iconic Baked Sculpting lipsticks is super vibrant with a creamy texture that feels lightweight and cushiony while worn. As far as coverage, I would say that the lip colors provide medium coverage with a light sheen, but not as opaque as I expected. Although the lipsticks are supposed to be long lasting, even the darkest shade (Broadway Plum) only lasted a couple of hours on me. After eating, I had a nice stain, but I definitely lost the true color of the lipstick along the way. Then again, I find that hydrating lip colors usually don’t wear as long because of the oils used in the formulation process. On the bright side, the Iconic Baked Sculpting collection has a very hydrating formula that left my lips very smooth hours after my lipstick wore off.
I really love the appearance of these lipsticks. Especially the textured woven pattern on each lipstick bullet. The intricate design combined with the sleek, black component gives each lipstick a very elegant, yet edgy appearance.
The verdict: For days that I’m not looking for long-lasting color, but rather something to give my lips a little rehab, I will definitely opt for one of these shades. I tried 6 of the 12 colors in the collection and so far I have to say that Fifth Ave. Ruby and Broadway Plum are my favorite colors.
Have you tried a color from this collection yet? What are your thoughts?
Disclosure: I received the products in this post from LAURA GELLER for editorial consideration and review purposes. All the thoughts and opinions remain 100% my own, but you already knew that. 🙂
