I have to admit, I’ve always respected Lancôme as a sophisticated luxury cosmetics brand, but I always felt they were too conservative for my bold taste for beauty. This feeling stems from the fact that my mom is an avid fan of the brand ever since I can I remember. She isn’t quite as adventurous as I am and the products she usually purchases from Lancôme are pretty, but lack edge.
The new Lancôme DRAMA LIQUI-PENCIL Longwear Eyeliners have given me a new perspective on Lancôme and on pencil liners in general.
Lancôme DRAMA LIQUI-PENCIL Longwear Eyeliner Review
The Drama Liqui-Pencil eyeliner collection includes 16 gorgeous shades in matte, shimmer, and metallic textures retailing for $23 each. Pencil liners typically feel dry to me, but definitely not these.
These pencil liners apply like a buttery gel formula, but in a pencil form. Not only do they glide on smoothly, but the color pay off is super intense in all of the formulas. The formula and textures are truly a dream because the mattes are not dry at all, so there is no need to tug when applying. The shimmer and metallic textures are also fantastic and don’t crumble like other glittery liners I have tried. The liners are also blendable before they set, perfect for creating smoky eyes or graphic liner looks in a multitude of Technicolor looks.
Each pencil delivers all of this goodness, WITHOUT the use of:
- Parabens
- Sulfates
- Fragrences
The thing I found most impressive about the Lancôme liners is that they are not playing when they use the term longwear. Holy smokes! These babies are incredibly long lasting. They are designed for 24-hour wear and I had yet to really meet a liner that can commit to that claim, but these liners do. Once they set they don’t budge, not even with soap and water. If you follow me on Snap Chat (Username: PrettyInPigmet), you probably saw my snap of me rubbing my swatches with soap and water. No matter how much I scrubbed and rubbed, they didn’t come off one bit. So with that said, make sure you have makeup remover or coconut oil on hand for removal when wearing the liners.
Overall, I really like these liners, but I do have to mention a small downfall. The component is made out of a plastic material, which is hard to sharpen. It’s hard to get the precise point because the formula is very creamy and can’t maintain its shape when sharpening. The plastic also makes it hard. While this isn’t a deal breaker for me (I’m just super careful with them), I do think it’s something you should be a aware of.
Lancôme DRAMA LIQUI-PENCIL Longwear Eyeliner Swatches
(Swatches Left to right: Embrase, Macaron, Noir Intense, Lumiére, French lace, Brûlée, Paradís, Pluie, Soleil, Minuit, Parisian Night, Pacifique, Baroque, Lamé, Ampoulé, Côte D’azur)
I love how wide the color range is for the DRAMA LIQUI-PENCIL Longwear Eyeliners. Something I noticed is that there are colors perfect for the more conservative women, without having to always reach for a traditional black liner.
My favorite conservative shades are:
- Brûlée (chocolate brown)
- Minuit (matte midnight blue)
- Pluie (grey)
But you all know that pretty pigments always win my heart over when it comes to makeup. There are quiet a few shades that I love, but these beauties are too hard to resist!
- Macaron – PinkBaroque – Matte lavender
- Lamé – Metallic white gold
- Ampoulé – Pearlized purple
- French lace – Matte white
- Soleil – Bright yellow
- Paradís – pearlized tropical green
- Côte D’azur – Blue
These liners have quickly become a staple in my makeup bag and have me excited to see what edgy new products Lancôme will think of next!
