I have been in a long term relationship with my IT Cosmetics CC cream for over a year. Prior to that I never committed to any particular foundation and found myself on a constant soul search for the right one. Since finding the IT Cosmetic CC cream, I’ve been happy with not only the appearance of my skin with the product but also without it. I’ve never thought about straying from it, but when IT Cosmetics sent me their Confidence in a Compact foundation I entertained the idea of switching things up. It’s the first ever solid serum foundation and I’m all about giving my dry skin a little extra loving.
IT Cosmetics Confidence in a Compact Foundation
IT Cosmetics Confidence in a Compact is a serum foundation that is designed with the same ingredients of their cult-classic moisturizer, Confidence in a Cream Moisturizing Super Cream. In case you didn’t know, that’s another one of my go-to products when it comes to skincare. What makes Confidence in a compact different is that it has SPF 50 (physical sunscreen) and it provides light/medium coverage (available in 7 shades). It also contains anti-aging ingredients such as hydrolyzed collagen, hyaluronic acid, squalane, and antioxidants. You know, all the goods that help to keep skin from aging, while reducing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and discoloration.
My thoughts about Confidence in a Compact
So I have to admit, my first impression of this product was a little underwhelming. I applied it with the brush that was provided to me and I felt that the application was streaky and settled into my pores. I’ve never met an IT Cosmetics product I didn’t like, so I kept playing with it. The second time around I applied my IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Primer and used my beauty blender to apply the foundation. In terms of technique, I swirled my blender into the compact and pounced the product on my face starting from the middle of my face and working out. That is the trick I found to flawlessly applying this product. I imagine using the sponge that comes with it would also work, but the big takeaway here is that you need to activate the product by swirling your sponge into the Compact then allowing the heat of your face to melt the solid.

With just one layer of product, the IT Cosmetics Confidence in a Compact foundation evens out my skin tone, including my mild redness. It leaves a satin finish on my skin that lasts all day on my dry skin, with the exception of my oily t-zone. That area melts off in a few hours even with a mattifying primer, but this a common problem for me.
IT Cosmetics Confidence in a Compact VS IT Cosmetics CC Cream
Now I know that this serum foundation delivers the same skincare benefits of Confidence in a Cream, but it doesn’t feel that way. Confidence in a Cream is much heavier and it’s actually my nighttime moisturizer. The Confidence in a Compact serum foundation is much more lightweight. It’s hydrating and wears comfortably, but I wouldn’t completely replace my Confidence in a Cream for it. I do however use it in conjunction to my Confidence in a Cream moisturizer.
If I had to pick between my IT Cosmetics CC Cream and the Confidence in a Compact, I would keep the CC cream. I personally like the fuller coverage that the CC cream provides, but this product is ideal for someone that wants a little more coverage than a BB cream, but not quite a full-on foundation. I like to use the Confidence in a Compact on days I just want to even out my skin tone (like on the weekends or when I’m going for a no makeup look). I can also see myself using this product more often in the summer months when I want something that feels really light.
