This year I have prepared a handful of Halloween makeup looks for my 3rd Annual Halloween Makeup Series. I have put together looks for a variety of characters, from creepers to beauties and tips on how to recreate the looks at home.
I kicked off the series last week with a Hunger Games Catching fire makeup look and this week I have a look from under the sea!
Mermaid Inspired Makeup Look
The mermaid makeup look that I have created is inspired by the Disney classic, The Little Mermaid. I decided to create a look inspired by Ariel because I think she is a mermaid that everyone is familiar with and she is usually the first mermaid that people think of. Ariel is a very versatile character and she is a good choice for youngsters to adults.
A mermaid makeup look is very easy to create and you can add your own personal touches to customize your look. You can create a mermaid inspired by Ariel, like I did or create a totally different cosplay costume.
Tips For Creating a Mermaid Makeup Look:
- Decided what type of mermaid you would like to create. Is the mermaid you picture in your mind colorful and pretty or is she a gruesome mermaid zombie?
- Accessories really make this look come to life. Visit your local craft store and pick up shells, starfish, jewels, pearls, etc. A colorful wig is also a must-have for a mermaid costume.
- Creating a netted effect on your face gives the mermaid makeup look added texture and personality! Although it looks a little tricky, it’s super easy to do. Simply cut a leg off an old pair of fishnet stockings and put it over your head like a sock. Make sure it’s tight over the area that you want to add the effect to. Then, simply apply your desired eye shadow colors to the area and gently remove the stocking when you are done.
