DIY FLOWER CROWN
I have spent the last week Coachella dreamin’. I pictured myself a million times partying in the dessert to the sizzling sounds while rocking a pair of HerTinyTeeth sunnies. But, partying in the dessert is not in my horizon anytime soon. So I decided to bring a small part of Coachella to South Florida by making my own DIY flower crown.
I thought about buying a flower crown at LF a few weeks ago, but I was not about to spend $65.00 on something I could make myself. Instead, I looked at a few tutorials online (My friend April from Aprilgolightly.com has an awesome flower crown tutorial) and decided to put my crafty pants on and make my own DIY flower crown!
I spent about $15.00 on all of the materials to and had enough to make 3 additional DIY flower crowns. Not only did I save a ton of money, I also had a great time crafting! I posted pictures of my crown on Instagram and I had a few requests for a tutorial, so I created one below. Enjoy!
What you will need:
Step 1: Start by making a circle that fits around your head using the floral wire. Once you have the right size, create 3 more loops to make the crown base sturdy. Wrap the end of the wire around the circle to secure the crown.
Step 2: Cut your flowers into small bunches. Once you have your desired bunches, you can start cutting your floral wire into 4-inch pieces. You will need 1 piece of wire per flower bunch.
Step 3: Place a bunch of flowers in the desired direction of your crown and wrap a piece of floral wire around the stem to secure the bunch of flowers onto the crown.
Step 4: Take a piece or floral tape and cut (or rip it off like I did) and wrap it around the stem and wire. This will help create a nice neat look when your crown is complete.
** Continue steps 3 & 4 until you have covered the desired portion of your crown. I covered about ¾ of my crown, but you can do as much as you would like. **
Step 5: Wrap floral tape around the remaining exposed floral wire.
Here is my finished crown!
I got so carried away that I even made a crown for Gia. Doesn’t she look adorable!?!?!?
