I have been blogging for over 3 years now and it wasn’t until recently that I felt like a part of the blogging community. I didn’t really know how to connect with other bloggers, but I knew I couldn’t be the only person who felt this way.
A few months ago I decided to start a group called The South Florida Beauty & Fashion Bloggers. My mission in starting this group was to create a community for bloggers in my area to have professional networking environment.
My group has grown tremendously in the last few months and has become a thriving group of astonishing bloggers from South Florida. Several of the members expressed an interest to meet in person, so I organized our 1st Blogger Meetup. With the help of a few wonderful sponsors, I organized our first official meetup and logo unveiling a few weeks ago.
On Saturday October 5th, 2013 the wonderful folks at Nick & Johnnie’s Palm Beach graciously hosted The South Florida Beauty & Fashion Bloggers 1st meetup. This was my first time at Nick & Johnnie’s and I was stunned with the beautiful atmosphere. The restaurant has an indoor seating area that is illuminated with natural light, for an outdoor feel. But the best part is that it’s all under the cooling comfort of a/c! An outdoor feel without sheading a single sweat drop?!?! Now that’s my kind of venue.
Nick & Johnnie’s also stimulated our taste buds with tasty Mediterranean inspired bites and savory signature sangria.
All of the girls who came to the meetup also received swag bags that were provided to us by Neiman Marcus Boca Raton. The gift bags included a few fashionable items, perfect for the fall season. I can’t wait to wear the fantastic floral legwear, which is ultra trendy at this time of year!
I really enjoyed having the chance to sit down and talk to the bloggers in person. We all had a chance to get to know each other personally and learn more about our aspirations as bloggers.
One of our members, Katie McBroom of MartinisandMascara.com, was recently named Allure’s Most Buzz Worthy Bloggers. I asked Katie to be our guest speaker at the meetup and she had all of us drooling over her amazing experience with Allure. We are all very proud of her and are happy to have her in our group to continue to inspire us.
At the end of our meetup, I concluded the event with a special surprise. Nicole from 2611Art.com stitched up a custom made makeup brush roll (read my review about her brush rolls here) and matching makeup bag for the lucky winner of our event raffle.
Katie was our lucky winner and was stoked to take home this custom prize!
The first meetup was a success and I can’t wait for our next meetup!
I would like to thank our sponsors again for helping this meetup come to life, Katie for enlightening us with her story and everyone who came out to the meeting. You guys rock!
