One of the things I love most about social media is how it’s helped me connect with creative women from all over the globe. I find so much inspiration from women that are makers and pursuing their dreams of being business owners. The girl gang I rounded up today are some of my favorite creators and business owners, all with one thing in common– a quirky and colorful aesthetic. These are my top whimsical woman-owned small businesses to shop right now, from handmade accessories, party goods, apparel, illustrators, and even vintage shops!
Whimsical Woman-Owned Small Businesses to Shop Right Now
Handmade Accessories
Lavender Lion
Do you love animals and fashion? Well, these cute and quirky are just for you. My Instagram pal Kati handmakes animal-inspired clutches, crossover ties, and so much more. One of the coolest things she offers is her snouts for sanctuaries collection. This collection is dedicated to her love for pigs and proceeds from select purchases from this collection go to benefit the Central Texas Pig Rescue.
Xoelle Bow Ties
I met my friend Laura at Alt Summit in March of 2019. We were an instant colorful match. I traded her pom pom earrings and she traded me one of her handmade ties. Ever since then I’ve been a fangirl of her ties. All of her ties are handmade and she focuses on upcycling fabrics to make her limited print collections. Both men and women can enjoy her ties since has bow ties and her fabulous lady ties, which I love. She recently started releasing a super limited monthly bow tie and they do not disappoint. Her October tie was a sandworm from Beetlejuice and just can’t wait to see what more she has in store.
Lace and Pearls Jewelry
If you’re looking for delicate handmade jewelry that is simple, yet unique, look no further. My friend and blogger, Asa, knows loves to accessories her outfit looks. It’s no surprise that her eye for style and knack for making jewelry came together. Her collection offers a curated selection of quality handmade jewelry made that is feminine, yet modern.
Sewgnar
Speaking of accessories, my childhood friend Niko has a really cool online shop that features goods such as wallets, purses, and backpacks. These aren’t any old bags, these are designed with the conscious consumer in mind. Niko has been sewing since she was 10 years old and you can tell that she has years of experience when you see her work– it’s detailed and professional. She mostly works with eco-friendly materials such as cork and keeps mother earth in mind in all aspects of her business, from her goods to the shipping packaging. I actually bought my brother a wallet from her collection, and it’s still holding strong years later.
Vintage Shops
Confetti Co Vintage
Confetti Co Vintage is owned by Lydia Parker, a modern-day gal with Marvelous Mrs. Maisel style. I discovered her shop on Instagram and I’m constantly swooning at all of the beautiful pieces she takes to local markets in her area. Lucky for me (and you!), Lydia has an Etsy shop where she shared her colorful curated vintage goods.
Barbie Roadkill Vintage
Chicago-based vintage enthusiast, Anna Rafferty, has an extensive collection of vintage goods. The overall vibe of her shop is 90s edgy, with a dash of punk and sprinkle of pretty. She seems to focus on mostly apparel, from retro denim to 60s psychedelic mini dresses, you’re sure to find something unique to add to your collection from her shop.
Pigment Vintage
Shameless plug here! If you love my colorful style, you’re going to love my collection of curated vintage. I recently decided to start sharing my collection and I’m selling pieces on my Poshmark shop. I love all things bright, so my collection features just that from the 60s to current day items.
Party Goods
My Soiree Designs
From my hometown stomping grounds of South Florida, this Etsy shop is ready to party! Mariajose, a mom of three, has a passion for party inspo and mini pinatas. I mean, who doesn’t love a pinata at a party? She has all sorts of festive pinatas for any celebration. From birthdays to thanksgiving, her shop will make a celebration out of any day!
Confete Party Box
I love to host parties and Confete party box makes it super easy to shop for party goods. They have already made themed boxes, or you can create your own for a custom look. That’s what I did when I hosted my colorful Galentine’s Day brunch. Did I mention they also have a ballon garland kits so that you can create the ultimate Insta-worthy party?!
Clothing & Apparel
Femfettii
Obsessed with girl power tees and brightly colored accessories? So am I! The folks at Femfettii have all sorts of goodies of custom illustrated graphic tees that inspire and empower women, a side of sass.
Dazey LA
Speaking of clothing that empowers, let’s talk about Dazey LA. Founded by Dani Nagel, this Los Angeles based slow fashion apparel brand is all about creating community. Their designs are hand-drawn and designed and handmade to order in LA. What makes this brand even better? They are size inclusive!
NooWorks
I’m really diggin’ the indie slow fashion brands that are emerging from California right now, and Nooworks is the brand that started my affliction. Each season Nooworks partners with illustrations to create limited edition prints that are one of a kind. They then offer the fabric designs in all kinds of clothing, with my favorite being the magic suit. I feel like a badass when I wear one of my magic suits and always get so many compliments. But what makes me feel even better is that they are a slow fashion brand that was founded by a woman.
Art & Illustrations
Britsketch
Brittney Lee is an illustrator based in Southern California. She has a whimsical style to her art and makes beautiful illustrations. She sells prints and stationery, but my favorite thing from her is her calendar girls. They make a great “treat yo’ self” gift or a gift for a friend. Make sure you follow her on IG because the calendar girls move FAST! Some people have been trying to get one for years without any luck.
Lacee Swan
If you have been following my blog for a long time (Thank you, you’re the real MVP!), you may remember the colorfully illustrated version of me that was on my logo. That illustration was made by Lacee and it’s one of my favorite renditions of me to date. Lacee creates custom illustrations for invitations, cards, and so much more. She also has ready-made fashion illustrations that make colorful gifts for yourself or someone special.
