Here I am again, confronting another look from the past. Please pardon the duck lips. I came from the generation that invented this quacky concept, and I’m glad to see it dying away. The “2008 smokey eye” I used to wear was very grey and went up close to my brow. I did not have much of a gradient effect, and the colors look rather monotone. Looking at the whole look, it is very sultry and not very wearable.
I have matured as an artist I have learned that less truly is more. My new and improved “2012 smokey eye,” is softer and wearable for any occasion. I can put this look on in the morning for school, wear it to work, and then touch it up for a date night!
As shown in the photo above, I apply my darker shades on the outer corners of the eyes and then blend it into a lighter transition towards my inner eye. Additionally, I have also applied color under the lash line.

What a fun post. Yes, 2008 was all about drama, but smokey has become subtler now. Looks beautiful either way.
