As a color aficionada, I like to live in a world that is bursting with color. And by world, I mean I love to infuse my passion for color into my home. A colorful home doesn’t stop in indoor spaces, in fact, the outdoors is where color really comes to life. This is why I’m sharing my best tips & tricks on ways to add color to your outdoor space.
Whether you want to add a few pops of color to your outdoor space, or are ready to take on a full outdoor to your patio or screen-porch, I’ve got several inspiring ways to have you living in a colorful outdoor world before you’re next BBQ or outdoor soiree.
7 Ways to Add Color to Your Outdoor Space
Colorful Outdoor Furniture
Take your outdoor space from drab to fab by decorating your outdoor space with colorful furniture. You can pick a color palette that fits the aesthetic of your space, and experiment with mixing in colored accessories such as pillows. If you already have a neutral-colored furniture set and don’t want to replace the entire thing ( I don’t blame you since that can get pricey), consider adding in a few colorful key pieces like a small table. Depending on the type of outdoor furniture that you have, reupholstering could also be an option.
Bright Pillows
Pillows are an easy and affordable way to pop color into your outdoor space. You can go with pillows of the same color, or add in a mix of colors and prints to create an eclectic space.
Flower Pots
Flowers brighten any space and also bring a sense of joy into your outdoor area. When picking out out your flowers and planters, don’t just stop at colorful flowers, take it up a notch by also picking colorful planters too.
Outdoor Lighting
Lighting is the key to creating an atmosphere that is warm and welcoming in your outdoor space when the sun goes down. I know that warm white string lights are really popular for outdoor spaces and patios, but I personally like something a little more colorful. I really like the LED globe lights that allow you to change the colors. While they’re a little pricier, they give you the flexibility to change your lighting for all occasions. Other colorful lighting options include standing lamps with colorful shades, or outdoor pendant lights or chandeliers that add a pop of color over your outdoor dining space or bar.
Splash Color on our Walls
One of the easiest ways to add color to your outdoor space is by painting the walls. It’s not only a quick fix, but it’s also cost effective for the amount of impact you will receive. You don’t have to pick a dramatic color to change the visual aesthetic of your outdoor space, even a light blue, yellow, or pink could make a big impact.
Not ready to commit to painting or live in a rental space? That doesn’t mean you can’t bring color to your outdoor living space. You can DIY outdoor wall art by buying outdoor fabric and hanging a mural on your wall.
Paint your floor- Just like painted walls, painted floors can really make an impact when infusing color in your outdoor space. Elsie from A Beautiful Mess DIYed her patio by popping color into her concrete patio tiles. If you’re ready to step your game up for an artistic pattern that is sure to catch the eye, A Beautiful Mess also has a tutorial for a fun geometric design to paint on your patio.
Area Rug
If painting your floor is too much of a commitment, or if you are looking for a rental-friendly way to add color to your outdoor space, an area rug can do the trick. When picking a rug, make sure to pick one that is designed to be used in outdoor living spaces.

In fact, having a SunBrite Veranda Series TV in your outdoor living space not only brightens up your space, but it also helps to bring your family and friends together.
