This post is part of the #UnitedlyPlus blogger collaboration between Joi of InMyJoi (Instagram), Sheena of IamSheGlobal (Instagram), and myself. We’ve covered colored stripes and the bomber jacket in past collabs, so make sure to peep those looks. Check out the #UnitedlyPlus hashtag to learn more about all of us and our collaboration!
I went on a road trip to Tennessee last weekend and along the way we made a pit stop in Atlanta, Georgia for a wedding. It was my first time visiting Atlanta, but if it was anything like Savannah, I knew I could expect to see beautiful homes on tree-lined streets. Naturally, I had to take OOTD pictures and lucky for me, this was the view right in front of the lovely Airbnb that I stayed at during my trip.
I packed an outfit that I thought would work well with the southern charm of Georgia. When I think of Georgia, southern hospitality, butter (they love their butter!), and frames from Gone With The Wind come to mind. While you don’t see Southern Belles walking down the street anymore (I’m sure they have cosplay festivals and events), traditional Southern Belles wore dresses that had an off shoulder style.
This look is my take on the modern Southern Belle, minus the heavy tulle and the hoop skirt. I don’t know how those girls wore such hot clothing in the deep South. It’s too humid for all that, although I admire the fashion.
For my modernized take on the Southern Belle, I paired the classic silhouette of a midi skirt with the popular off shoulder trend. But you already know that my life isn’t complete without a flock of flamingos and my new Kate Spade Flamingo tote was the finishing touch to this charming look.
