OCC Beyond Pastel Lip Tars Review
Cost: $13 a piece, however I purchased these in a 6 pack for a 35% discount! $50.00 for 6 Lip Tars…that’s less than $9.00 a piece!!!! Can’t beat it!
Shipping/Packaging: I placed my order on a Friday morning and received my order in less than a week. I received a shipping confirmation by Monday afternoon. My package arrived in a regular white mailing box that was sealed properly, to ensure my products were safe in transit.
Product Packaging: Upon opening the box, I was greeted by an OCC Postcard along with my packing slip. I always look forward to receiving the postcard, because so far, I get a new one each time. I collect them all and place them around my makeup sanctuary! The Lip Tars were surrounded by packing peanuts and were all placed in a zip lock bag labeled “Lip tar 6 Pack”.
The Product: In case you haven’t already heard all of the buzz, Lip Tars are produced by a Company named “Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics”, based out of NYC and founded by David Klasfeld. OCC has PETA’s seal of approval by producing 100% Cruelty-free and Vegan cosmetics. That means NO animal testing and NO animal products are used to manufacture the products. They are well known for their high quality professional products including, airbrushing systems, pigments, and most importantly LIP TARS!
These are the swatches of all the Lip Tars I purchased. To swatch I applied a few drops of each color and created strokes using a concealer brush. The following swatches are on my lips so that you can get an idea what they look like on. I did not use any lip liner or base on my lips when I applied the colors. I only used a small dot of color.
Tone
Plum
Pageant
Vapid
Lo-fi
Cha Cha
The Verdict: This is not my first experience with Lip Tars, but I have to say, each time I am more and more Impressed! Each drop is packed with heavily pigmented colors that result in an opaque lip color. When applied, the lip tars go on smoothly and are easy to manipulate. The beauty behind the Lip Tars is, that you can mix them to create an endless array of customized color. The end result is a satin finished lip, with a slightly minty taste. If you would like to add additional shine and or create a more sheer color, I recommend purchasing the Clear Lip Tar.
I chose the Beyond Pastel pack because I think I will get a lot of use from these colors. The pack also offered a bunch of fun colors, Pageant being my favorite. I think this set will be very helpful for bridal make up as well as editorial shoots. Lo-fi is also a beneficial color to have, since it can be used to neutralize red lip colors. I also really love Cha Cha, not on myself particularly, but I think it is great to create Orange Sherbet lips.
Lip Tars are available in a wide variety of colors, including Primary colors (Also a $50 for a 6pack at the moment!) which can be using to mix and make custom colors. I recommend purchasing this if you are a Make up Artist or aspiring to be. Pro’s also receive a $20 off discount, which is a nice deal. Please check out the site for more info.
I would like to know…What’s your favorite shade from the beyond pastel pack?

These look like fun. Vapid is my favorite! I have yet to try OCC lip tars though. It’s so hard justifying the purchase when I already have so many lip products!
