Spring is in the air and you know what that means: wedding season!
This is the time of year that wedding invites start rolling in leaving you figuring out what to wear to your friend or family member’s big day. Sometimes that’s easier said than done.
There’s a lot to take into consideration when figuring out what to wear to a wedding. From the type of wedding (some are formal and some are casual), to wedding attire etiquette, to how much you are willing to spend on your wedding guest outfit. The good news is that there are so many fun wedding guest outfit options right now that work for all bodies and occasions.
I’ve partnered with Simply Be to share a few plus size wedding guest outfit ideas that are modern, functional, affordable, and most importantly– fashionable!
4 Plus Size Wedding Guest Outfit Ideas from Simply Be
Pretty In Yellow
This pale yellow dress is a perfect frock for a spring wedding in a garden or an outdoor location. Its tea-length makes it cool for an afternoon wedding, but the beaded details give it enough jazz that it can transition into an evening look.

Fancy for a Formal Function
This is a formal look and it’s perfect for an evening wedding at a location that has a reputation for being fancy, but I know what you are thinking.
A cream dress? Is that allowed?
This may be a little alarming for you since it can be similar to white. Traditionally, we wouldn’t even consider a color anywhere near white since that color is reserved for the bride. Personally, I’m not one for traditions and neither are most millennials. Traditional bridal colors are becoming a thing of the past. In fact, according to Refinery 29, wedding attire rules no longer apply. However, before you put on this floor-length number and head out the door, make sure you know that it’s appropriate for the wedding. For example, if the bride has requested a “black & white party” or if she has reserved another color (say black) for her look. The most important thing to keep in mind is to be respectful of her personal views and dress color choice.

Dark Heart
We all have that untraditional friend that’s idea of a traditional wedding includes gothic decor and Tim Burton. If we were friends IRL, I’d likely be that friend! If you get the invite to a wedding that you know is going to have a darker twist, consider a look that will fit right in. I especially love the rose embroidery on this dress. It’s feminine and pairs perfectly with the black see-thru fabric. Plus, it’s got a skater silhouette and what plus size gal could resist that?

Gasp! All white to a wedding….would you dare?
Gasp! All white to a wedding…would you dare? This one ups the cream idea! I actually polled my Facebook friends on if they would wear white a wedding and they practically lost their minds. Almost everyone said NO WAY!
Personally, I say YES WAY, but only if the bride is not wearing white. Think about it, if a bride is going to wear blue (it happens), then white is free game for anyone who wants to wear it. It’s clearly not a symbolic color to her.
Even if you wouldn’t wear white, consider the pantsuit outfit ideas instead of a dress. Personally, I’m a dress kind of gal, but I know some women are not. While some may feel that this a casual approach, I think that this outfit can work (especially for a spring or summer wedding). The eyelet lace details, wide leg pants, paired with a nice pop of color pull the look together.
Side note: For the traditional bride that’s anti-dresses, I think this could be a fabulous option too!
