I got my first pair of wide leg jeans in middle school and I remember my mom telling me that she used to wear pants like that back in the ’70s. At the time I didn’t really understand the concept of fashion trends making a comeback, and thought she was out of her mind. I was sure that I was one of the first to wear wide leg pants and had no idea that wide leg jeans were a major hit before I was even born. To put it into perspective, my mom broke out the photo album to prove to me that I wasn’t the trendsetter, in fact she was actually the first to adapt this style.
With time the trend went back on a hiatus and I kicked my wide leg jeans to the curb for a pair of skinny jeans. I never thought I would wear wide leg jeans again, but I guess it’s just another instance where I have been proven wrong!
Fast forward 15 years and wide leg jeans are back, AGAIN! This spring it’s all about the flare, the more, the better!
After getting a new pair of flared jeans, I’m not sure why I ever stopped wearing them in the first place. I forgot how flattering they can be, especially in a dark rinse. They are very versatile to wear, comfortable, and can be paired with sneakers to platforms, depending on the vibe you’d like to channel.
I’ve been doing some soul searching lately and I has been reflecting in fashion in a very bohemian way. Needless to say, I decided to give my flared jeans a ’70s vibe and it’s a style that you will be seeing me in much more!
