Acne prone skin. Oily skin. Dark circles. And now rosacea? Really?!?!?
My skin is far from perfect; it’s not even funny. But instead of dwelling on all of my imperfections, I decided to find a solution for my beauty woes. Thankfully, I didn’t have to go too far. As a matter of fact, I discovered an awesome brand of cosmetics, based in practically my back yard.
Luka Cosmetics, developed by professional makeup artist Katherine MacDonald, is a South Florida based cosmetics line. After years of research and development, Katherine founded a line of organic mineral-based cosmetics products that is sure to change the way you think of makeup. These products have been designed specifically with challenging skin in mind and are perfect for people with acne prone skin, oily skin, dark circles, rosacea, bruising, scarring and post-surgery skin.
The Luka Difference:
- No Bismuth Oxychloride
- No Animal Testing
- No Parabens
- No Talc
- No Artificial Dyes or Fragrance
Did I mention that the products all have anti-aging properties? Bonus point!
I recently started using several of the products from Luka Cosmetics, and they have changed my skin dramatically in just a few weeks. My skin now looks fresh, healthy and I no longer get weird rashes and bumps after applying my foundation.
Here are my must-have Luka Cosmetics Products:
1. Blank Canvas- Luka Rejuvenating Face Primer ($45.00)
This is a water-based (No silicone here sister!) primer formulated to smooth and fill lines. Unlike your average primer, it also helps to heal skin (Vitamin E) and give you a glowing complexion.
Since I have started using this primer, I no longer have oily skin. That’s because my skin is no longer being coated in artificial chemicals such as silicone, which can cause excess sebum oil production. Instead my skin is being hydrated and healed.
2. LukaRX Hide & Heal Mineral Camouflage Foundation ($45.00)
This is not your average concealer. It is incredibly pigmented and was initially designed to cover post-surgery skin, bruising and scarring.
A little goes a long way and I suggest applying it with a duo-fiber brush, so that it doesn’t look too heavy. If you need more, you can always build it up, but no need to retouch because it’s long lasting. Just make sure to apply a thin layer of powder to avoid creasing through the day.
This concealer has really been a lifesaver for me. Gone are the days of dark circles and my Rudolph nose. The best part is that while it covers imperfections, it is also nourishing my skin with Aloe and Vitamin E. You can’t beat that!
3. Velvet Perfector Luka Mineral Cream-to Powder Foundation ($46.00)
Can I please tell you, this is the first time I can say that I LOVE MY FOUNDATION! I could practically shout it off of rooftops right now. For years I have been looking for my perfect match, but all I could find wear products that caused me to break out (I won’t mention any names).
When I met this foundation, I knew we were meant to be. It’s super pigmented, so a little goes a long way. It offers medium coverage that is buildable, but feels very lightweight. It also offers UV protection (crucial here in South Florida), but surprisingly, it photographs very well. This foundation makes your skin look youthful and radiant, who doesn’t want that?
