“Look deep into nature, then you will understand everything better.” — Albert Einstein
After a few weeks of preparing for holiday events at work and spending many evenings at stores surrounded by frantic shoppers, I have been feeling mentally and physically exhausted. These situations have sucked me dry of my natural radiance, leaving my entire existence off kilter. I don’t like to feel like a stone-faced robot that is programed to go through the daily routine of life, to simply repeat the mundane cycle day after day. That is not living and no way to live life, even if it’s just for a few weeks.
To find harmony and purpose in life again I escape is the great outdoors. The weather in Florida is beautiful and breezy at this time of year and it’s the perfect time to enjoy an afternoon at the park, taking a walk, or simply just taking a moment to observe the beauty that nature has to offer.
I love sitting outside with my eyes closed, listening to a well-rehearsed melody by an orchestra of birds, all while feeling the gentle warmth of the sun on my skin. Spending the afternoon with Mother Nature to escape the hustle and bustle of the holidays, reminds me that the natural world is the ultimate antidote to soothe the soul.
Each experience that I have with nature, translates into a lesson that can be applied to the human world. These birds perched high in the trees, appearing to be carefree are faced with concerns every single day. They wake up each day in hopes to find a meal to continue to survive and go to sleep hoping that they will not be killed by a predator. But regardless of the challenges they face, they still sing each day. Instead of spending their days worrying about the troubles that they may face, they share the sounds of joy and gratitude with the world around them.
This session with nature has taught me to always find a moment to sing in appreciation for another day.
