When I was a young girl I was obsessed with Barbie dolls. I had almost every Barbie ever made and all of the extra bells and whistles to go with her. One of my favorite accessories was my pink Barbie Jeep. I mean, what girl can resist a pink Jeep? It was every girly girls dream and it left me lusting over the idea of having my own Jeep when I got older.
Fast forward over 20 years and my desire to have a Jeep has returned. I had a little taste of the Jeep vehicle line up at the Seattle International Auto Show and the experience has left me wanting more. Back when I was 9 I wanted a Jeep because it was pink, but now I want one because it’s so functional, especially for outdoor adventures in the Pacific Northwest. During the Jeep Seattle Trailhawks driving experience that I attend on Friday, I had the chance to get behind the seat of of Jeep’s hottest vehicles.
Here’s a little bit of what I learned during my fabulous experience!
2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk
The first one that I checked out was a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk. This SUV is stunning and combines beauty and brains. As a fashionista the first thing I always notice about a car is the aesthetics. This SUV is super sleek and fashionable, but the brains behind the car are quite impressive. While riding along on a course with terrain simulations, I learned that this car can handle practically anything. It’s a 6 cylinder 4-wheel drive vehicle, so it’s perfect for outdoor adventures, as well as towing toys through trails.
One of the coolest things about this vehicle is the hill climb assist feature. You can actually let go of the break when going up a steep hill without the vehicle rolling backwards. While trying out this feature through the course I felt like I was on a theme park ride and couldn’t believe how well the Grand Cherokee Trailhawk handles the steep hill simulator.
2017 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon
The Jeep Wrangler is the iconic that started it all in my book. It’s the car I dreamed about as a young girl, but I never would have imagined that it would come this far. To put it in simple terms this car is beautiful beast. It’s perfect for the outdoor extremist and can handle just about anything that you put in its path. My favorite thing about this vehicle is the classic grill, which has evolved through the years, but still remains a staple of the Wrangler.
As far as how it handles, that’s something you will only understand when you get behind the wheel of this roughed vehicle. As you know, this bad boy is designed for off-road adventures and it handled the tree stump simulator like nothing. It waltzed over that part of the course, but it was far from the most impressive feature. The most jaw-dropping part of the experience is how well the Wrangler handled a 45 degree angle climb. I thought we were going to tip over when we went on 2 wheels, but since the car is designed with a good center or gravity and wide stance, it breezed right over the track. While it’s perfect for outdoor adventures, it’s also great for urban environments like Seattle. Can you imagine riding through the city with the top and windows down during the summer? I sure can!
