Out of all of the major cities that I have visited, Seattle is the city that captured my heart. It such a progressive metropolis, filled with culture and visually stimulating scenery in every direction.
As a Floridian who only knows the dump to be a mountain, I was most compelled by the lush landscapes that graces every area, and of course the mountains that peak from behind the trees and tower proudly into the clouds.
Exploring Washington in the Mitsubishi Lancer
During our trip, we packed up our beautiful Rally Red Mitsubishi Lancer and headed about 30 minutes outside of Seattle. We set the in-dash navigation and cranked up the SiriusXM radio, as we started our mini road trip.
Everyone knows that the ride is half the fun and listening out to our favorite 90s song in this car with the sunroof open was awesome, especially because this car has an amazing sound system. It’s equipped with a Rockford Fosgate premium audio system that includes a 10-inch subwoofer. A few Green Day songs later and our jam session ended as we turned into Rattlesnake Ledge. I know, the name is terrifying, but the experience is one I will never for get.
As we I mentioned earlier, we don’t really do mountains in Florida, so hiking up this mountain felt like turning the incline on the treadmill to a million. We made stops along the way to catch our breath and to admire the forest and all of its inhibitors. Most of them camouflage into the environment, but when I took a closer look, I found slugs, birds, spiders, and even chipmunks!
After what seems like a journey to the end of the earth, we were finally greeted by a sunny opening in the forest. We made it to Rattlesnake Ledge and every step was worth this breath-taking view. The mountains surrounded us as we looked over 2,000 ft. down at the lake. There were a few people up there with us, but it was quiet enough to reflect.
It felt like being on top of the world and made everything below me seem so small. It gave me some much needed prospective on stepping away from technology-saturated life to enjoy my surroundings. Although I have to admit that I had a hard time putting down my camera because I wanted to capture this experience to share.
The way down from Rattlesnake Ledge was much faster and it seemed like we were back at the car in no time. After all of that climbing, we decided to head back into downtown Seattle to get a bite to eat for lunch.
Let me tell you, Downtown Seattle is not a place for all vehicles. Parking is scarce, and may times you will find your self squeezing into tight streets and parking spaces. While spacious inside, the Lancer was sleek for commuting in these areas. The backup cam also came in handy, as well as the automatic wipers for the soft Seattle mist.
We spent the rest of days exploring the city and all of its attractions. I couldn’t believe how well the Lancer did on gas during all of these excursions. I’m not complaining though, because gas is more expensive in Seattle than it is in Florida.
Speaking of home, leaving Seattle was bittersweet. I loved the city so much and I can’t wait to return for another adventure!
