Every Friday I post a fashion related post. This week I decided to change things up. I spent the last week picking my brain trying to figure out how I could share a post that was a little more personal and nothing came to mind. After a serious case of writer’s block, I decided to do something different. Rather than me deciding what to talk about, I welcomed my Instagram fam to ask me things. I wasn’t sure what to expect, heck I didn’t even know if I would get any questions. To my surprise, I got tons of questions about my blog, my move, and even my hair color. These questions challenged me to take a more personal approach to my content and it pushed me to be more open about my personal life.
So here you have it, my first Q&A. Raw, uncut, and shared from the heart.

Question #1 submitted by @AngelaCruzTube: What is your favorite thing about Seattle and what do you miss most about Florida (besides your glam squad)?
My favorite thing about Seattle is the balance of metropolis and nature. I used to think I was a city girl, which is why I moved to New York in my early 20s. As I’ve gotten older I’ve realized that I am a cosmopolitan gal, but I need my time outdoors to find balance within myself while disconnecting from the digital world.
As far as what I miss most about Florida (besides my awesome glam squad of course), I would say it’s family and friends. I’m close to my family and friends that I’ve had since elementary school, as well as my blogger babes there. I do my best to stay in touch but nothing beats time face-to-face.
Question #2 submitted by @Donutsanddowndog: What is your biggest obstacle is running your business?
It’s funny that you ask. After over a year of blogging full-time and working as a freelance writer, I have decided to go back to working full time. I had a panic attack just thinking about how I’m going to manage my time, which is my current biggest obstacle. Then I took a step back and used that energy to make a plan. Moving forward I will be focusing my time on what I love: content creation and community management and building a team to handle some other aspects of blogging.
Question #3 submitted by @Partytildawn: Best piece of advice for growing your brand?
Know your brand like it’s your best friend. Give your brand and identity. Who is she? What does she do for fun? Where does she shop? What are her values? Once you do this, make it your mission to share your bestie with the world. Knowing your brand identity will make it easier to connect your brand to the right group of friend (potential readers/followers), as well as to build partnerships with brands.
Question #4 submitted by @Bohoandblush: How do you have the confidence to post so many pictures of yourself?
It’s funny that you ask that because posting pictures of myself has helped me become more confident in myself. In 2013 when I decided to cover fashion on my blog I had a hard time posting my first fashion post. I felt insecure about myself and wondered what people would think of me. I finally took my first OOTD pics and posted my post (if you promise not to laugh, you can check it out here). I expected the worst, but the complete opposite happened. My readers supported my posts, in fact, they grew a larger interest than my beauty posts. There are days that I still struggle with insecurities, but I remind myself that I’m more than what people see on the outside and that by sharing my style, I also help build the confidence of women around the globe.
Question #5 submitted by @AprilGolightly: How did you decide to move to Seattle being from South Florida? Are you surviving the weather?
I moved back to Florida after living in New York and knew I didn’t want to stay there long term. When Brandon and I started dating the first thing I told him was that if he was looking for a serious relationship with me, it would mean moving out of Florida. He agreed and together we searched for our next place to call home. Seattle felt right for both of us. I got my city fix and Brandon got a place to be a mountain man. so we packed up and headed for the Evergreen state! As far as weather, I’ve adjusted. I’m not one for sun or heat in the first place, so I don’t miss that aspect of Florida. It does rain a lot here, but with the exception of February, I’ve been pretty cool with the change.
Question #6 submitted by @_xoxob: How is the fashion adjustment from FL to WA and which do you like better?
Seattle is completely different than Florida, so the fashion is too. In South Florida, people are more vibrant with their style and will sacrifice comfort in the name of fashion. It’s hot, so showing some skin is practically mandatory. When you shoot 2,600 miles across the country to Seattle, you will find a small laid-back metropolis nestled in between beautiful mountains and the great outdoors. For that very reason people are much more outdoorsy here and it reflects in the street style. If you sit back and people watch you will notice that women opt for kicks instead of heels, muted tones, and denim. The weather also plays a big role, so rain boots become part of your day to day style. I don’t want to say that one is better than the other because I’ve met some fabulous fashionistas here (the Seattle blogger babes are not only fashionable, but sweethearts too!), but overall I like the fashion in Florida better. I love the colorfulness and rawness of the style there, but I make it a point to continue to reflect that in my personal style.
Question #7 submitted by @CrueltyFreeLucy: What one tip would you give to plus size bloggers regarding confidence?
Be unapologetic with your style, voice, and overall aesthetic.
Question #8 submitted by @LocalMomScoop: What’s your next hair color inspiration?
You know, I think I’m going to hang onto my blonde tones for a while. Unicorn hair has been fun, but I’ve destroyed my hair along the way. I’m going to give my strands some TLC, but don’t be surprised if I change my mind next month. lol.
A big shout out to everyone who took the time to ask me a question. I had a lot of fun answering all of them and plan to do this again sometime.
