Are you looking for more to do in the Palm Beaches, than just going to the beach this summer? In my mission to explore my beachy backyard, I found a few things to do that you may not know about, until now that is! You may think that the only thing to do is to head for the water in the summer, but their is so much more to do in the Palm Beaches. If you’re tired of getting sand in between your toes (like me!), their are a ton of other fun activities and events to check out this summer– no sand necessary!
3 Things to Do in Palm Beach Florida This Summer
1. Yoga on the green with Sarah Scheffer
Location: Emko, West Palm Beach
Address: 2119 South Dixie Highway, West Palm Beach
Phone: 561-227-3511
Cost: Donation
Have you driven down South Dixie Hwy in the Flamingo Park area of West Palm Beach and wondered what’s going on in the old Rag Tops Museum building? Say hello to Emko!
The historic 1926 building is now home to a multi-disciplinary gallery that is a mission to the enrich of the community through art. To sum it up, EmKo is a contemporary haven for art aficionados and emerging artists’. Driving by the building alone is a visual experience, but inside lies a multi-sensory experience that you have to see for yourself. It’s seriously one of the more eclectic spaces in Palm Beach County.
This summer you can find more than just art at Emko and an opportunity to refresh your mind, body and soul. The yoga on the lawn class is being taught at 9 AM on Saturdays by Sarah Scheffer and is likely to run through the summer. Not a fan of too much sun? No worries, this class takes place on their shaded, manicured lawn. Don’t forget to grab a smoothie at the Juice Bar while you’re there.
To reserve a spot in the class email yoga@emko.com.
2. Taste History Culinary Tour of Historic Palm Beach County
Boarding Location: Macy’s, Boynton Beach (East entrance)
Address: 801 N. Congress Avenue, Boynton Beach, FL 33426
Phone: 561-243-2662 or 561-638-8277
Cost: $45 per person for the Delray, Boynton Beach, Lake Worth and Lantana tour and $50 for the West Palm Beach tour
If you have a taste for more than just great food, but also history and art, then you need to hitch a ride on a Taste History Culinary Tour. The Taste History tour is a non-profit organization, spearheaded by Lori J Durante, who is the Executive Director of the venture. The Culinary Tours are an extension of the Museum or Lifestyle & Fashion and are curated bus tours that include stops at 4-6 eateries, historic locations, boutiques and art galleries. Each tour is educational and designed to submerge you and salivary glands in the rich tastes and cultures of each neighborhood.
I’ve been on a few Taste History Tours and the only thing the tours have in common is great food, interesting places to visit, and fascinating details that Lori shares about each location along the way. As a West Palm Beach native who knows all of the hip hideouts through Eastern Palm Beach County, I always find new spots to discover in each tour.
This tour was extra fun because I got to meet other local bloggers and media members. They were a fun bunch and you can read their reviews about the tours too! (Dawn of Simply Sassy Style, Holli of The South Florida Sage, Ingrid of South Florida Finds, Sunil of Florida Escape)
To better prepare for your tour, I’ve put together a guide on what to wear and expect from your first Taste History Culinary Tour.

3. “Rock and Stroll” at the Palm Beach Outlets
When: June 17, July 15 and August 19
Location: The Palm Beach Outlets Center Court
Address: 1751 Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard, West Palm Beach
Phone: 561-515-4400
The Palm Beach Outlets has quickly become one of my favorite places to shop in West Palm Beach. I love that I can find such a fun mix of stores in one location, from Nordstom Rack to Forever 21. The curated collection of stores makes it easy for me to do all of my shopping in one place, while still having the opportunity to create a well orchestrated look, such as this look here!
This summer shoppers at the outlets will be able to enjoy more than just fabulous stores, but will also get the opportunity to enjoy the sounds of light rock and jazz. “Rock N Stroll” is a new event that will feature live music playing in each of the four corners of the property. The event will take place from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. the third Wednesday of each month in July and August.
Center Court will feature various vendors and radio partner KOOL 105.5 and iHeartRadio. During the series, Palm Beach Outlets will be raffling a $5,000 shopping spree. The winner will be announced at the July 15 event. Winners must be present. Details are being broadcast on KOOL 105.5 and 95.5.
What is your favorite summer activity? Will you be checking out any of these activities and events?
